How much folic acid did /does else take? My doc told me to take 4 mg total. My prenatal has only 1mg, so I'll be adding 3mg. Just curious?

My understanding is that with folic acid prescribed me 4mg of ....
It has a 5 mg pill daily, which is what I also took during my IVFs .
My OB had me add extra folic acid on top of what was in my prenatal vitamins.
On 1600 mcg.

I was taking between 4-4.8mg of folic acid up until about 11 weeks because of the research I read that suggests in part that down syndrome could be cause by the inability to process folic acid. I'm not sure why it popped into my head but I started googling...

I was told that my prenatal vitamin contained enough folic acid and that I didn't need additional put me on 4 MG of folic acid.

I was told my my doc and midwife to take folic acid with pregnacare
I went into to chemist to ask for them and told them I was taking pregnacare too and they said I was taking too much,I was taking double the dose

Anyone out there taking Folic Acid for SD? My BF was just prescribed this for relief of side effects from the Methotrexate (which they just doubled his dosage). Does it help and does anyone notice other positives or negitives from it?? I know its in everything...

I know that when I was pregnant, it was recommended as well .
When he went off of the other meds, he went off of the folic acid.
Of the other meds that he was on.

I take my folic acid in the morning because it is the only time of the day that I would them to be honest.

So, I would take it if I was you.
It's something that helps promote development and growth....
folic acid is a needed vitamin for pregnancy and nursing.
