I agree that talking with your old school is past its expiration date. I wouldnt try to hard to transfer I think it is more important to focus your energy on studying for your boards and then doing well on rotations! That being said if you do very well on your boards I think you have a shot at getting an american residency. I've used it on a DX format for a limited time, but I was very impressed by that lens. On DX, it's really quite a tele lens, but if you have the space, it's no problem at all. source
