I'm running Ubuntu 9.04, and have Pidgin's Message Notification plugin installed. I have "Set Window Manager "URGENT" hint" on, which I was expecting would flash the title bar of the message window, but it doesn't do that.
I also have the Libnotify Popups...

Maybe better then nothing :-)
I installed Avant Window Navigator for an unrelated reason... .
Don't know how to make Ubuntu's libnotify do anything different, but Pidgin itself has an option for opening new chat windows when someone sends you a new message .

Emacs reindents the current line whenever I type certain things, like ";" or "//". This is pretty annoying, since there are a whole lot of places where it isn't smart enough to indent correctly.
How do I disable this feature? I still want to be able to...

You can do this as part of a c-mode-common-hook....
Try running c-toggle-electric-state to turn off the electric action of these characters .
Emacswiki has several solutions.
Most likely caused by the inline-and-indent 'feature' of c-mode and derivatives .

I've run into a problem where I make changes to a few JavaScript files that are referenced in an HTML file, but the browser doesn't see the changes. It holds onto the copy cached in the browser, even though the web server has a newer version.

Browsers ignore everything after... .
It never fails, and is fairly easy to do.
I am also of the method of just renaming things .

It is too fast.
Also make sure you are honoring robots.txt as well.
Typically, if a page takes x amount of seconds to download, it is polite to wait at least 10x-15x before re-downloading .
Here are some guidelines for web crawler politeness.

I am trying to figure out where my C++ program is spending its time, using gprof. Here's my dilemma: if I compile with the same optimization settings I use for my release build, pretty much everything gets inlined, and gprof tells me, unhelpfully, that...

Develop a few macros using the high performance timing mechanism of your CPU... .
It doesn't matter that the code is running slower (your convenience aside, of course) - the profiler will still tell you the correct proportion of time spent in each function .

After my current cycle i will be doing....
Which meant a 4 week PCT of nolva/ clomid instead of 3 .
When I started research on a test / deca cycle , an aggressive PCT was required.
aggressive can mean a few things depending on who you talk to.
