The motor blew air out of that front vent that had a unique smell, not a "motor smell.
The little GE.

Finally and most importantly earth the motor frame and use .
Unless drawing cool fresh air along the motor.
:11 PM Make sure the cooling air from the motors own fan blows towards the fan/grinder e.t.c.

On hot days I'd open the door and stick my head in front of it...it was the closest thing we had... .
It said "Conditioned Air by Gibson" and the vent at the top of the light is where all the cooling air blew out of.
