How hard is it to retrofit Central A/C to an existing house or townhouse (not condo)? What factors make it easy or difficult?

You can do a search in "Hand Fired Stoves" to find them .
With your furnace, I'd start with a wood fire furnace on the forum.
It will, some, but if wood ash is too deep it slows the air flow.
