I like Samsung.
They also have a good variety of the window units too to use for a week or so, so it's too soon to give an opinion on that one yet.
For prices that are about half of normal retail.

Now they are worse than pathetic.
I have three of them and Samsung used to be good, until Samsung outsourced it.
In my case the Lemon was Samsung, and the savior Hitachi.

Infact have quite a few samsung tv's tooI think LG has the best prices and service.
At my factory spilt and window - not a problem till date .

Been using a Samsung AW06ECB8 window air conditioner for about 3-4 years. Dark, dusty-looking crap has appeared on the outflow vents, and I presume it's mold...? So I probably need to clean the entire airflow path, not just the intake area. The manual...

By self contained I mean the ones that you have to put by the window.
I'm wondering how long the pipe is, e.g. can the outlet get all the way out of the exterior window of an apartment, also, are they anywhere near as effective as the installed units ...

They usually say how much per meter of your apartment window....
Do not get Daewoo of the window is a very long distance more than say 3 meters.
I would suggest buying a carrier brand air conditioner or an LG/Whisen.
It will cost.
