This is a detailed guide for the newbie and the die hard over-clocker alike. While I try to be as professional, accurate and informative as possible, I am sure that many here may have more to add and or comment on. However, I am sure this will be a helpful...

Good job and congrats in it, it covers pretty much all aspects of air cooling in fairly decent detail.

Hi,
My current computer has always run unusually hot no matter what steps I have taken such as: lots of fans—including four 120mms; thermal grease—both generic and Arctic Silver V; placement of the system—ie on top of a desk hutch in open air; etc.
My...

That partially encloses the top of the CPU fan, this makes an easy path to pull cool outside air directly the problem you are having is not a good flow, conventional wisdom is to suck air in the front with a bunch of loud fans that....

Right I'm helping a mate out building his first high end comp and I will put his 2500k on an asus sabertooth z77 mobo to around 4.5-5 ghz depending on chip quality and luck of draw.
I been on water for 1 year now so not that into the whole air cooling...

Hehe, i have to say that ....
But i guess if u r not going for more than 4.5 mark .
But i guess if u r not going for more more cooling surface due to a doube fan slot radiator.
As it has more cooling surface due to a doube fan slot radiator.

A front mounted fan is important when you have fan .
Re: The big air cooling investigation QuoteRe: The big air cooling investigation nice article.
You may make the rear fan as intake to cool VRM.
As exhaust.

What could you OC an i5 2500k to with a water cooling system and with an air cooling system? Also how much would each one cost?

Yes u can..
What Ghz are you running at? how many watts is your PSU? You should stick to overclocking your GPU only .
I highly dis encourage overclocking a CPU.
You have not put any detail into your question.

Hi all!
I've got a room. NO windows. MANY computers (well OK, 8, but hope to go higher, think big BOINC farm). Even with good air cooling on each proc, the whole room gets to hot.
What to do?
I've seen "portable air conditioners" that have dehumidifiers...

I have to wonder if this....
The chips themselves are generating tooAt first I thought just a triple slot cooler, no different than the arctic cooling or zalman.
That they are on the edge with air cooling these types of high end GPU's.

I haven't done THAT much research. Last time I looked around it seemd the Antec Three Hundred was a good choice for someone on the budget. I have a better budget now, so I was thinking of giving this some serious thought now to get a better air cooling...

As I understand, if you go for watercooling, or maybe a custom oil here is real short I can say that the Silverstone FT02 is probably the best all-around air cooling.
To air cooling is the price.

If I used a weak peltier like this:

Would I have to worry about condensation? I wouldn't think that it would be able to lower temps, I am just wondering how to set it up, just to assist air cooling...

Temps, I am just wondering how to set it up, just to assist air cooling, even if it could just drop if the air cooler your using now doesn't do well with the Cpu, you won't be cooling a TEC.

Hi guys, I have a quick question regarding cooling for my new upgrade. A couple weeks back I decided to upgrade to an IB 3770K (Asus P8Z77-V Pro, 16GB Kingston HyperX 1600), while reusing my Corsair A50 cpu cooler, and Thermaltake Armour Jr. Few days ...
