Program your logic from there.
Have a "Radar Ping" event they respond to that returns current course, heading, speed, and location .
Perhaps a set of processes each representing a plane.

Do a quick search for Velocity XL or a rutan vari-ez this might be what you have seen, sometimes these are powered by Mazda Wankel engine's with turbo chargers which gives them a bit of a whine, Mine almost sounds like a turboprop .
