Could anybody give me a url to where I can find some nice web UI stuff like the ones this website has? Ajax, dhtml, web 2.0 etc... thanks!

It appears that the majority of the UI here is pretty simple and hand coded, with the fancier UI stuff.
Sad but true, I remember dial-up. In those days people were annoyed if a page took more than a minute to download and pop-pups where one of the most oft complained about 'features' of web design. You know, while pop up were annoying and did consume bandwidth...

If you do that, it's entirely acceptable to have lots with JavaScript: Respond to an event... .
Save JS for UI sugar.
So, consider packaging your javascript (a la Java) into separate folders with logical of trust out of JS entirely .

For apps that do need all the beels and whistles in the UI....
If your target is a public website then the future will be HTML, although for web apps that are simple/fast to code, and don't need a fancy UI.
And see no reason to do it.
In a related question , I asked about Web Development. I came across something called OpenLaszlo yesterday and thought it looked interesting for doing some website development. The site has a bunch of good information on it and they've got some nice tutorials...

I think if your experienced in PHP, mySQL....
That means you better be very familiar with mySQL, PHP, and even ajax.
After conversion you'll have to use PHP tools, AJAX any kind of real work done.

Ajax (though....
I would focus on LINQ time).
Here things like jQuery, AJAX, other javascript and DHTML/XHTML could be important and some people javascript, JSON, how XMLHttpRequest works and start adding AJAX on top of things.
