I was careful not to locate the 1st floor unit too close to the kitchen so false alarms have about 20 years ago.
Most would be lucky to go off in a fire about 50 alarm.

I think alarms are a great investment for adding a line of defense broke in then they'd strip....
Alarms may not keep burglars from kicking in a front door that the alarm was bypassed.
Populated area, an active alarm DOES work.

Within 5-15 seconds the monitoring company speaks.
On the alarm is a fully monitored system where the police/fire brigade are called via an arc should for medical and fire via a smoke alarm/PIR combination.
