M3A78-EM motherboard with onboard ALC1200.
Clean install of Ubuntu 12.04.
Added the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf option line for the ALC1200.
Added the tsched=0 into the /etc/pulse/default.pa
Sounds remain heavily distorted/wavering/warped/warbelling...

Hi all,
Running 12.04 and loving it. Only issue to date is that since this install my laptop speakers will not mute when I plug in a headphone jack.
Laptop is Acer Aspire 5920. Sound is identified as Realtek ALC1200.
I tried ALSA Mixer, but that can't...

I am using laptop acer aspire 5920, I am using opensuse 12.1, the thing that the laptop has two speakers one for sub woofer and the main speakers, only one of them working which is the sub woofer...

I have a semi decent LG 5.1 surround unit thats not getting used. Was thinking of using it on my pc. It has the RCA connectors (and optical but I have no optical connection). Just wondering if there are compatible RCA to 3.5 jack plugs? I made a enquiry...

You'd need 3 and just make sure you plug the centre connector the right way (or bass will got to the centre speaker and centre to sub) .
You can get those 3.5mm stereo to dual-RCA cables almost anywhere .

Hey,
Up until now I have been using my Onboard Sound Card - ALC1200(Realtek). It suppose to be quite decent according to reviews (I'm mainly using it with Headphones).
