Hi!
If you have to add protein in a broodmare's diet otherwise balanced on others elements. What would be your first choice?
Straight alfafa hay (or hay with enough alfafa in it) isn't really available in the area.
Alfafa pellets and some oats to balance...

Just find a hill, stand near the base of it and longe him up and down the hill in a circle around you .
How can you not do hill work?
You don't need to ride him .

I switched his mix to one with smaller pieces (Ecotrition) and for variety, and I gave him more fresh... .
He stopped eating the larger, chunkier items in his Hazel Hamster mix (i.e., most of the mix) .
This has happened to my aging hams, most recently to Ping .
