On my Fedora machine, I installed Amarok using
yum install amarok
In the Fedora start menu, and entry is created 'Amarok'. But, when I click it, a window opens and closes itself.
I am not able to use Amarok. How do I run it?

Simply type amarok.
You might also run as root and see if that works .
At least on opensuse) amarok %U
If there missing or broken dependencies, this will usually spit them out to the command line.

I'm looking for a media player for Windows which supports automatic recommendations like in Amarok, something other than Amarok.

Also, keep in mind that iTunes is a resource hog .
It's free, but you need an iTunes account for Genius to work .
ITunes has Genius , which offers recommendations for your music .

After recent upgrade to Amarok 2.1 it refuses to play *.ogg files. When I hit play, it blinks for a second and stops. No sound is generated. *.mp3 do play (although they stop after one song - see my other question). How can I fix it? It used to work with...

Seems to be fixed in Amarok Version 2.1.90 (its 2.2 rc1 I believe)..

Concidering an amarok
I am in the market to sell my 4x2 and upgrade to a double cab 4x4 vehicle, can someone please help me. I am seriously thinking about buying an Amarok, the 120 kw one.
Good and bad that I have really have to consider.

Still,....
The Hilux with Volkwagens' service is the single biggest reason I won't go for the Amarok.
I think the Ranger did pretty well too.
The Amarok came out tops according to them.

Obviously, as KDE software, most Amarok developers will be using KDE Amarok on Ubuntu (Gnome), the installation....
Whether or not you wish to use KDE is entirely a matter of personal taste .
Amarok works fine under any desktop environment.

Sure, but with far better grades of diesel, lower ambient temperatures and much different driving conditions... .
As I mentioned on the thread - Seat uses the same basic engines and they've already managed to wring almost 40% more out of them - reliably so .

It is just a pleasure to use and not far behind... .
I agree I often think of using my ML 320 but then just take the Amarok anyway .
The Amarok is very comfortable and with the good fuel consumption it is the ideal vehicle to replace the platkar.
