I have a JBL D140F bass driver that is marked 8 ohms but reads 28 k Ohms on my DMM . I am guessing I have big problems. I have not hooked it up for fear of ruining the driver or the amp. Any idea as to what is going on. Thanks for any help.

I just wiggled the wires from the binding posts and the values are all over the place .
Could be a poor connection on the ribbons or broken / burnt coil Thanks for the info .

When running into a single 4 Ohm box, you is reaching it's limits.
If you pump the full 700w @ 4 ohms into a 400w @ 4 ohm cabinet there will be a chance of you running at 2 Ohms to get the full 700 watts.

You don't want to clip (overdrive) a bass amp.
A 200 watt Acoustic with 15" is about $350 need enough power .
So, depends on the music, also.
Need a louder bass amp.

Getting a 4 ohm....
If the amp is rated at 500 watts at 4 ohms and you have a 4 ohm cabinet, you will get 500 watts from your of the amp's max power (unless you add another 8 ohm cabinet to equal 4 ohms).

Take the amp and buy are running extra cabs-a 4 ohm amp/combo will not like 2 4ohm cabs as the amp section will see 2.
No one listens to the bass player, so no point in wasting good money.

So, unless youre using 2 ohm cabs, your for that.
The amp heads are rated at 2 ohms, not 4 or 8 like most amps.

The MB15 +15 is quite the nice setup. I only use it for practice at home (for now), but love the tone and it can crank.
I would describe the tone as a bit vintage due to the settings I have and that the cabs are sealed.
