Husband has semen analysis Monday...? My husband has a semen analysis on Monday May 7th to test fertility. When should we make sure not to have sex so that we get the best results possible. Would this weekend be cutting it to close?

Make sure he understands that ejaculating is ejaculating, ....
If you want a useful test outcome he should start saving his swimmers as of Saturday .
In general it's 2 till 3 days.
Normally the doc / lab should have told him the required abstinence period .

I am new to the forum and me and my DH have been TTC off and on for a few years. When we first ran into the issue we decided to get a semen analysis done but had intercourse the morning of the test and he was diagnosed with azoospermia. ...

Do you have to get a referral from a doctor to have a semen analysis done? We haven't had any testing done yet but we know the SA is the least invasive test that can be done. Can we just call a clinic and make an appointment for him to give a sample or...

They didn't require us to be patients....
We just called an RE and scheduled it.
We just paid ours out of pocket because it was only $75 and insurance probably wasn't going to cover it anyway .
If you're going through insurance you'll most likely need a referral .

We had a semen analysis back in 2009 when trying to conceive DS#2. We would like to have one again but I forget how we went about it. We were seeing an RE at the time but it was done in the urologists office. We're not seeing an RE now b/c he doesn't ...

Call around to all the labs....
It depends what state you live in, but sometimes if you just call the lab that does the SA, they will schedule an appointment for you & no doctors orders are needed for it .
Bump No you do not need an RE to get a SA ordered .

MH had to abstain for 3-7 days, could use no lube, condom and could not receive any 'help' from me He said there were materials in there, but I didn't ask what they were and if he looked at them, I didn't want to know!
TBH, MH had a hard time .

Did your clinic test for it? We just found out ours didn't after multiple IUIs. Apparently it's not "routine."

DH has severe morph issues, I would have....
I was under the impression that count, motility and morph were standard.. .
I've never heard of that.
That's crazy.
I thought the only one that wasn't routine was the antibodies? I could be wrong though .
Ours did.

I ended up having to call the office because we had not heard from them. The nurse I talked to said "The doctor said that it was a little low, but the formailty is normal. Just keep taking the clomid."

That's great to hear that you are responding well with the meds! I myself will be trying clomid for the first time this cycle .
If there was any real concern I'm sure they would have referred you to a RE .

I'm sorry to hear about your news - my only suggestion would be to remind DH that despite the fact that it might feel like it's his problem, you both are facing... .
I'm so sorry.
I don't have any advice but just wanted to tell you I'm sorry about the results .
