What are free options for mac os x anti-virus software? I know Norton is the most common software I find for virus protection on os x, but I don't like the subscription model.

A Mac only AV would not have an account there (free), and block certain....
It's used a lot of Linux servers too so it's actively developed and has frequent virus definition updates.
free (as in freedom) Mac antivirus that comes to mind.

You can't beat Microsoft Security Essentials for a free anti virus, it is nice and quick as a supplement to any free antivirus.

I am using it on a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 ans it's really neat! Works like a charm!!!
It's not taking that much memory but new computers comes with at least 1go of ram and more so that's not an issue.... .
I strongly recommand Symantec Endpoint Protection.
