There are many who say that writing your tests first improves code quality... .
If you create your class first, the subsequent tests you write can be called Unit Tests, but it is not TDD .
Test-driven development, by definition, is writing your tests first.

Thanks to "Uncle Bob's" recent pontifications on Hanselminutes and the Stackoverflow podcasts, as well as Jeff and Joel's appropriate disrespect of the "SOLID" principles, I've given a lot of thought to questions like "How perfect does a program really...

I'm looking to run Redmine, a Ruby on Rails app, on a vps windows box. The only thing I can really think of is running a virtual linux machine and hosting it from there. If that is my only option, am I going to run into problems running a virtual machine...

But this proves it is possible.
I used Aptana to run a development environment, but I'm sure that there are better alternatives that don't require the IDE to be open to run .
You can install SQLite and a Rails server like Mongrel on a Windows machine .
I work in a mixed source control environment. We are still mostly on CVS, but newer projects are in SVN. However, I am finding it hard to get buy-in for SVN because TortoiseSVN doesn't work like TortoiseCVS. The 3 way merge has a lot of cognitive dissonance...

Just a wild guess here but if you're using CVSNT on the server this observation might be based on the fact that CVSNT... .

Take a look at BeyondCompare and Araxis Merge.
Assuming that the .php and .aspx extensions have been hidden from the URLs, are there any clues in the HTML that might suggest the site is coded in either php or asp? Cheers.

As I'm learning Objective-C for iPhone, a friend is discouraging me by insisting that Objective-C is syntactically obtuse and missing many modern language features. Objective-C is usually described as being "close to the metal" and therefore more efficient...

Objective-C builds atop C, so learning Objective-C means you're learning (enough) C anyway.
For the most part (certainly the assertion that "most" iPhone developers don't use objective-c anyway the App Store).

Are the unit test case for JPA worthy? anyway it is just going to access DB, why do we need it?

Any reasonable IDE will validate a JPA model such that all the table and column names are correct... .
I unit test the business logic where you'll either use JPA entities/qeries directly or you'll mock the queries .
I've never done unit tests for JPA entities.
