So no further....
I already had set up AOL on my phone so was receiving my AOL mail (the one that has inbox & folders on the left hand side if the window) and then clicked I go into AOL Mail.
Personal-pc-assistant/ I've found answer mysef.

Now on to the problem. The client has a new PC running Windows 7. I need to get the OS to see AOL as the default mail. However when I go into the Default programs, AOL is not listed even though the desktop version...

Sorry this really weird, but I just got the new aol page, and in my page where my messages are there were ads on the the right side, which I got rid of with Adblock...so now they're gone, but I can't expand the page to read the whole line...

download AOL to a flash drive from the laptop and upload to the
desktop to subscribe to AOL....
However, that leaves my desktop with the problem of ancient
aol software and no real way to download over dial up.
