It's hard to get solitude, but it is safer.
I think the biggest difference is that the Appalachian is that the Appalachian Trail is like a superhighway.

UPDATE....
The attacks have stopped so I guess we're in a truce as long I let the nest be .
Last time I destroyed the nest it commenced a 3 year period of attacks on my back door and kitchen window from a disgruntled robin .

You really can't go wrong.
Lot's of small towns and countryside to explore and different foods to sample .
Starting point? Final destination? With the two roads you listed plus a few to the south and west you have everything you need for a great trip .
Are swords allowed on the appalachian trail? Is it legal to carry a short sword for protection on the appalachian trail. If so what kind should I bring?
