The PCT been using.
It's hard to get solitude, but it is safer.
I think the biggest difference is that the Appalachian is that the Appalachian Trail is like a superhighway.
Snowed on one day and the next be blazing hot .

Pulled the trigger and sent my check to Servicesales for my new Appalachian 52 BAY. I hope to get it before we run out of cold weather to give it a try. Will update this thread on how the install goes and my thoughts on the insert.

UPDATE....
The attacks have stopped so I guess we're in a truce as long I let the nest be .
Last time I destroyed the nest it commenced a 3 year period of attacks on my back door and kitchen window from a disgruntled robin .
There is a bird's nest under my deck.

Are swords allowed on the appalachian trail? Is it legal to carry a short sword for protection on the appalachian trail. If so what kind should I bring?

2) Swords are heavy and you don't want to lug heavy things around when you are hiking .
1) You'll look like a psycho.
No good whatsoever can come from bringing a sword on the trail .
