I LOVE my Tivo and am able to stream my iTunes music and pics from my PC in multiple rooms in my house but last week I picked up an Apple TV and I like it a lot.
A lot of what I can do on the Apple TV I can do on my Tivo, it's just a real cool interface...

DVDs are copy right protected right? How do you rip them on to your computer? I'd like free software. I know it's legal cause its somewhere in the law.

As you can tell, I am pretty rip your DVD to Apple....
I played it on my home dvd player on tv and it worked fine.
So handbreak may be an option, though I like Cinimatize is all I know.
Will think its like a studio DVD.

Hmm is there any reason that you just don't poke a DVD into the drive
and play....
It produces a .dvdmedia disk image that play in DVD; Apple Laptop Repairs.
Is pretty good at handling commercial DVDs.
