I'm looking to buy a new and I'm not sure what store is the best to buy from. I've check Petco, Petsmart and they seem to only have the ones that are on the stands for display. They always seem to be banged up and they won't sell it without, or swap it...

Did you talk with the manager? Have you tried any smaller shops, they can usually order what you need, and they usually have a better quality... .
I would think your's would too.
The Petco and PetSmart's in my area have the tank only, and the combinations .

Even the CO2 options can vary as well.
It depends on how intense your lights are that you need to supplement extra CO2 .
Like if_fishes said, it depends how involved you want to get into it .

Just look for items surrounded in water.
If you mean in farmandia, there are occasionally gifts available in the same menu as the regular gifts .
