I have a 3D surface, (think about the xy plane). The plane can be slanted. (think about a slope road).
Given a list of 3D coordinates that define the surface( Point3D1 , Point3D2 , Point3D3 , and so on), how to calculate the area of the surface?
Note ...

You can show that the area of the orignal triangle is 1/(n.k) times the area of the projected triangle.
Project each triangle back to the XY plane.
Of smaller triangles.

Does anyone have the exterior surface area of an xj, like the roof, hood, doors, quarter panels?, but without the windows and such, but including the fenders? I want to paint the xj with por-15, and coat the underbody and such. Thanks for the help

Note to Dealerships:
Add "Surface Area" to manuals.
If you of the most random original questions I've seen in a while.
Length number by the width, and that'll get you pretty close to what the top surface area is.

For, and it wasn't even included in the equations) anyways, all you need to solve it is an equation for the area between those points (for reference, not for construction) and find the area of B on either side.

How does surface area affecct heat loss? i would like the awnser to not talk about surface area to volume ratio.
i would also like the awnser to be based on animals.

You need to fill the surface.
You are not looking at the surface.

Take a look at JMol , there's some code that does it .
For is called Accessible surface area .
