Self defense is a tiny goal in the martial arts.
The martial arts is first and foremost isn't about being ready.
The only real fighting there should be is in self conflict .

I once had a little cousin start fights in school and using martial arts.
kids are too young to understand that learning martial arts is a responsibility and they shouldn't abuse it.
