Am having an acer aspire 4720 laptop.It contains an phoniex security. So am unable to enter into bios settings due to the unknown password.So how can i get or remove the password.And one more problem is optical drive is not working.Please help me.

If you just want to enter into BIOS, why not remove the CMOS battery, set the jumper setting to clear and then again replace the CMOS... .
It's a longshot, but cannot hurt.
For starters (see my comment) try some of these backdoor passwords for phoenix bios .

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 4730z(windows vista home premium), and it seems to not have the "touchpad" option in the control panel, and the mouse options don't let me disable tap-to-click.
How would I do this?

As already mentioned the method for XP will work, however you need to have the Synaptics Touch Pad driver loaded for your machine .
This is on XP but I think it will be close to what you need to do .

Make sure to press the connect button on ....
They actually tucked the USB dongle for the keyboard inside the battery compartment of the mouse !
Dig it out, plug it in, and all will be fine .
If you're at wit's end, get ready for some relief and amazement .

I have an acer aspire revo connected via HDMI to a 5.1 surround sound system. It uses the nvidia ION graphics chipset.
I can only get it into 2 channel stereo mode, as far as i can tell its supposed to be capable of 8 channel sound.
It has 64bit windows...

Make sure your speakers are....
7.1 surround is supported by HDMI but not by ION, every ION mainboard and computer I've found are 6 channel .
And no, 7.1 (to the best of my knowledge) is NOT supported .
5.1 sound works fine on my Revo with Windows 7 (x86) .

Use gPhoto2 , Picasa....
It appears there is no application installed or configured to automatically launch on connection of the camera .
Install something like http://www.gphoto.org/ or any other digital camera software set so you can get the pictures off .

Take out the battery and smack the power button a few times .
What I did was keep windows on without power saving anything, and let the battery completely die. .
I think it may have to do with the battery memory .
This happened to me too once or twice..

In fact, take a look at this post.
Absolutely you can install the standard x86 version.
As far as I understand, you should have no problem .
Atom implements the x86 (IA-32) instruction set.
Standard x86 version will be fine.

We got it vacuumed out mostly with a wet/dry shopvac. Now when booted up, I see the first BIOS screen (and can get into the BIOS), but all I get is a repeating series...
