The issue is likely to be poorly written code and there's a good chance that it has little you (or your friend) will need to make that determination.

I am streaming a PDF to the browser in ASP.NET 2.0. This works in all browsers over HTTP and all browsers except IE over HTTPS. As far as I know, this used to work (over the past 5 years or so) in all versions of IE, but our clients have only recently...

You might want to tryWhat version of IE? I recall that Microsoft released a Hotfix for IE6 for this issue.

I was amazed that is isn't Silverlight has nothing analagous to WPF's ElementName binding ability.
