For me in most cases hw:x,0 works....
I solved the issue by compiling vlc with oss support and using my alsa's oss emulated device /dev/dsp .
With arecord -L i got the list of channels i could use but it seems that no matter what i choose i can't hear sounds .

All the Audio 2 does is give you 2 stereo outputs, no....
If you want time-code vinyl/cd support, you need the Audio 6.
Same audio drivers are in both I believe, so the sound quality is just as good and powerful w/ the Audio 2.
