Is there a Windows program that can convert audio books in .M4B format to Audible book format?
Why?... I want to play the book on a Garmin Nuvi.

Think of your situation as akin to trying to convert a DVD to play on an iPod/iPhone to buy it again in a different format.
Audio book and podcast files, which also contain).
Tracks are unencrypted and use .m4a accordingly.

It depends on how you get them if they are in some sort of mp3/mp4 or aac format then sure however some places use a proprietary format or player and will not work on most ipods..

I don't in the car, but I would recommend the center console for easy access to the Ipod.
Setup, as long as I can hear it and the audio quality is tolerable, its good in my book.

My son put a book on his ipod and read along and listening to get something out of the audio book too.

If I take an audio book out of the library, can I download the CDs to my computer and then put it on my iPod? The only CD players I have are my DVD or in my car. I was hoping to be able to put some books on my iPod without having to purchase the audio...

Through the online library I download in digital....
Some you can and some you can't.
That way, it comes on the rights of the audio book...
Ditto the audio book from the library.
And putting that on your iPod, iPhone or iPad.

Its set to manual! There is no need to restore unless... .
If it is set, Restore will erase all content off the iPod and return it to a factory set up.
Will have to browse your way to the books on the iPod through iTunes and delete them.

I've downloaded an audio book from the itunes store to my library. I can listen to it on my computer. I have synced my nano but the book isn't showing up in audio books or music.

Have you double checked to make sure these Audiobooks are configured to sync to your iPod from under the iPod's Books configuration tab in iTunes?
To access this configuration tab, plug in your iPod to the iPod's Summary....

Try your local library I use the library or LINC as they call it in Tassie now, can't find nyone who knows what LINC means but that's the government for you .
