Mitchell has the best wiring diagrams diagrams flat out suck.......
If you don't get a true shop manual, a Haynes manual is my preference over Chilton's .
Wiring diagrams, repair procedures, and specifications.

I have an M4 paintball rifle, which was of hear 2nd hand it has never fired a shot and hasnt worked since day one, have replace a few seals etc. but air runs through it or it just fires like its on auto, t had other issues...

To me any decent sparky wouldnt wire.
Maybe the mechanic did the damage and you only noticed after auto elec fixed the lights.
It away to their auto electrician who gave it back with the extra damage.
