So I got hit, should I go with the insurance's body shop? (Progressive)
Seems to be a little easier of a process doing that.
Or should I take it to an actual dealership (Toyota) and have them do it?
Seems to be a few pros and cons to that, as it appears...

Often times the shop will be able to write the estimate without an adjuster coming out to look at the car so the work can get....
I've work to them.
I think a body shop would be a) easier and b) better because they specialize in those repairs.

Long story short - rear ended on Saturday in our new car (June 2011 Kia Optima SX). Other drivers fault.
Mangled rear end and front end.
Appraised damages - $9,000 before they pull the skin off the front end.
How badly is the car going to be depreciated...

If that worked then it would be part of every accident claim filed in which a repair is made.
You may not get anywhere, but fight.
Fight with them, don't simply accept repairs as good enough.

MIL just got her mercury back from being repaired after crash. Air bags did not operate. Now air bag lights flicker and flash all the time. Asked her if they were supposed to work. She was told by bump shop--Maybe. Is there some kind of federal mandate...

If you have collision insurance, it should cover the repairs? I think they forgot to check the SIR system when they made their repair estimate, and they don't want after repairs....
A dealer or repair shop scan the code.

You probably had this dilema before: You have a car which you can sell for $4000 but all of a sudden there are some problems and the car repair shop gives you an estimate of $4000 to put it back on the road.
Obviously you can't sell it now with all these...

Have a 2000 Honda Accord with 100K miles. The right front wheel bearing failing ($573), but the Honda dealer also said the struts and suspension ($1400), timing belt/water pump ($500-600), this and that... all are need replacement.
