My scores are 659, 648, 642. (well, they were before this). They sent me a letter saying I was pre-approved, or something. I thought they were easy to get a loan with. I asked for $20,000 over 48 months. Now I don't know what to do if my car breaks down...

If I went to a dealer, do you think I'd have a better shot? Or is the fact that Cap One and E-Loan declined me pretty much a good indication I'm not getting a loan from anyone.

Planning to get a used or new car in the next month. Does anyone used other auto financing places other then the dealerships?
I have read carbuytips.com and they suggested Capital One Auto Finance, Up2Drive.com, and myautoloan.com not sure...

No, an auto loan.
That leaves me with $1900 every month....and i shouldn't be considering taking out a $5k auto loan? i'm have it doesn't mean you should spend it.

Hey Bogleheads, so I have about 4 years remaining on 1.99% Auto loan. Because of a year-end bonus, I have ample cash available to pay it off - but I'm not sure if that is the best financial move.

A CU can almost always beat.
Also try a local CU.
Get a 48 month loan on the refi and not a 60 or 72.
For example, you have 54 months left to pay..
Refi terms do not stretch the loan out further.

Get something more reliable, think honda/toyota. you are too tight to able to afford the high maintenance of a jag. what are you driving now? if banks won't approve you there is a reason. how much do you have to put down?

For (a few months ago) was at USAA for a used auto loan, which, according to the credit boards.com they are more lenient.
