It does have to be gripped and the safety released to fire that.
If the gun is in good condition that grip safety will not allow the hammer to fall anyway.
I have seen that done on quite a few holsters .

I have a Spyderco Citadel 93mm. Yesterday I noticed the safety no longer works. Can I send it in? Not sure how repairs work with autos. TIA.

Can anyone help me understand the pros and cons of a decocker vs. a traditional manual safety on a semi-automatic? Specifically, what are the implications of carrying with a round in the chamber under both configurations?

In the PPK, it got confusing as....
PPK (as I am familiar one of those accurately.
It was intended to be carried cocked with the safety, but it was intended to have a round in the chamber, cocked with the safety on.
1911: That’s the original.

Read up on Glaser.
There is no such thing as "safety" ammo.
This is not a problem at all from a revolver .
They tend to be very light for caliber.
I know that some autos wont reliably feed Glaser ammo.
