1. Will I lose quality if I convert avi 1 to avi 2?
I know programs such as VirtualDub can trim/combine avi without quality loss with an option to "direct stream copy." Does something like this for converting avi 1 to avi 2 exist?

Since AVI is nothing more than a container, test and see if it works for you.....
In fact you have to reveal what is AVI 1 and 2.
Since direct stream copy means no change in avi encoding, then you have to go deeper with the answer.

Summary Using Windows GDI to convert 24-bit color to indexed color, it seems GDI chooses colors which are "close enough" even though there are exact matches in the supplied palette.
Can anyone confirm this as a GDI issue or am I making a mistake somewhere...

Some older AVI files would have 8 bit palettized video that could play palettized AVI's you might find something that shows the magic formula for getting.
And we stopped using it as soon as we could .

Hi all,
I burn .avi DVD rips downloaded off the net to CD-RW using Nero and play in my Toshiba SD-3990 DVD player. At some point the movie just stops playing and DVD player displays disk menu with file name in it. I can watch these no problem as files...

My daughter has a DVD from school where the 4 movie files on it are .vob format. She can watch it on the pc np, using vlan.
However, she wants to put this on her zune, which will play just about anything except .vob (figures).
I'm looking for a decent...

Avi video (Xvid) support is included on the Zune HD (firmware versions 4.5 and later).
I'm looking for a decent .vob to mpeg or avi converter.
About anything except .vob (figures).
