Hi again,
I have a Yamaha Motif and Yamaha SY55 in my set up. Both synths have "Output L/Mono R" so that two cables can be connected to the AW16G. I guess this is so you can record your synth tracks in stereo and pan them accordingly.
Is there any disadvantage...

My advice ....
The piano might have a stereo spread so the left hand is on the left with the right on the right .
If you're using the synths built in effects they might have a stereo spread or ping-pong between left and right .
My answer is, it all depends.

Working with a budding dub step kid, wanted to know if I can take his AIFF file and bring it into the G as a stereo pair to further add my tracks to it and then export it back to wav files? Sorry for being a newb at this and thanks!

I have an aw16g, and very happy with it.
For some reason, whether on input or output the sound (as shown in the meters), is always higher on the left than the right.
Is there some basic procedure for rebalancing the machine...

I'm curious if anyone's ever used an insert cable to insert external effects during recording? What I'm curious about is inserting compression on a vocal as it's being recorded. My compressor only has 1/4" inputs, and my microphones & preamp are all XLS...

If I remember correctly, the insert.
I don't think the AW16G input jacks have insert capability.
