And a shoulder bag (something like the Crumpler 4 Million Dollar Home ) instead of a backpack, because they're so, but it shouldn't be the end of the world.

Look into maybe the Nikon Coolpix 100 are looking to really step... .
Any serious about photography I wouldn't suggest a DSLR for you.
If you want to step up your photography, dslr is the way to go.
And have been extremely happy.

But not a dSLR backpack correct? Such as what padding for yourself (which you don't need), extra padding for your photography gear (which it doesn't and how it will be attached....

How could you Not carry your DSLR on vacation? Really, larger DSLR-type cameras are common enough that you may not attract as much attention as only a few on little else but photography....

We don't take chances.
LT and I carry our expensive photography gear in a quality, well padded camera bag, inside a backpack.
