The 11.5amps is the running amperage.
I want to put together a solar emergency backup, I called Sta-Rite to get a clarification on the power needs of the pump.
Pump is 240VAC with surge power draw of 11.5amps.

That would mean you'd need around 250 amps of battery capacity if you and your generator....
An AGM battery or two will probably do for your needs, they charge fast, don't need vented in the top 50% on rare occasions.

pump needs very little modification to keep vapor lock from occurring.
