I've currently got my email and calendar hosted on Google Apps. However I really like some of the features that have gone into GMail (themes, etc) and would like to move my mail and calendar to GMail. Ultimately, I'd like to:

I've happily been running a mail server on my home network to handle my personal domain email for the last 6 years. The old PIII server that is my mail server is now on it's last legs and I'm contemplating my options.

So it has no effect on the web interface.

Just setup 2 mail servers with real time copying, a very nice firewall/VPN implementation somebody else set up for them, an ok backup system, and three responsibility.
And let Google take care of them? Just kidding.

There are many excellent mail servers to use hosted Exchange....
You can use Google Apps email with their own domainname and configure each prefer, set up your own server (or have it hosted).
Then file it under Sent Items.
