My limited education and simple reasoning; I'm guessing those "designer" bacteria won't be competing...and if the "designer strain" even persist You may not need it if those products provide the right bacteria in the first place as I had....

The bacteria inturn is skimmed out of the water, hence the need for an efficent skimmer when running NP pellets.
The bacteria you speak of consumes the NO3 and PO4 .
I recently read an article online that a CPAP machine and hoses will collect bacteria and push it into your mouth, nose, and lungs while you sleep. This obviously scared the crap out of me. I only clean about once a month. Should I be worried about this...

When I had cyano, I got so fed up with it that I double dosed changed water triple dosed changed water triple dosed agian and again and again with chemi-clean and red slime remover. I didnt care about losing livestock I just wanted the darn cyano gone...

Where's your denitrifying bacteria? Inside live rock, and if you the anerobic denitrifying bacteria in the process, and it will come back untill I get my nutrients any denitrifying ....
And that's if you don't mess with things too much .
This really supports the whole GI and Autism link that almost every parent claims exists. They really need to go further with this but the fact that they've found a specific bacteria found in autistic kids that is missing in NT is a huge break through...

If they are the 50% with this bacteria in their gut then all the sugars from grain, dairy and soy would create....
My son does not have sleep to the GFCFSF diet .
That his gut was breeding some kind of bacteria that was adding to his issues.
