The firearm inside label placed on luggage by the airline or tsa makes that bag an easy mark .
I've thought about future travel with a firearm several times but this is probably the main reason why I wouldn't .

How strict are airlines with checked baggage? Edit : Title fail, it should be cabin baggage not checked baggage.
I travel frequently but only ever with a backpack. Tomorrow I'm traveling with one of those little wheelie bags AND my laptop in a backpack...
