Baking soda/baking powder recipe, don't have baking powder? Help please!!? I will be using this recipe to make some cupcakes, it says to use baking powder and baking soda but I only have baking soda. Can I just add more baking soda? If so how much? Thankyou...

Baking powder is 2 parts cream of tartar and....
Substitute another 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (baking powder is 1 part baking soda, 1 part acid and one part filler) and another 1/2 teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice for the acid.

Only use what the recipe calls for, because baking soda fizzes Baking powder is actually baking soda with a starch (often corn starch) and and acid like cream of tartar.

Baking powder is a dual action thing, activating once moist ingredients are added (water, eggs, etc) AND when heat....
Baking soda activates only with heat, meaning that it releases CO2 and causes the rest of the ingredients to trap air inside.

You can just use baking....
This is not much help so maybe choose another recipe - it's a bit hard .
They are 2 differnet products so I'm not really sure All I can find is that you can replace baking soda (carb soda) with baking powder.

By its own, baking soda....
I don't think you'll get the same outcome if you use baking powder because of the special properties of baking soda.
Although baking powder contains baking soda, they're not quite the same thing.

I do muffins often, cookies some, cake, banana bread, ect I bake to relax and working full-time can be stressful.
But do baking each month usually too.
I do some around the holidays.
We do ALOT more baking around the holidays.
