Can baking soda make your food taste? I put baking soda in my fridge to take odor out. There was ground beef in a plastic package and my dad cooked it and it tastes like baking soda..is this normal

No, baking soda is suppose to absorb other food's taste, not the other way around.

Assuming you're already using self raising flour, try adding a little more baking powder thermometer and stick it on whatever shelf you are baking on, leave the oven on for 30 mins then check marks out, I thought I had lost the knack of ....

No reason for that, just used to doing it in other low carb baking mixes.
I did add a 1/4 t of baking powder and used club soda in place of water.
With butter.

It's just cream of tartar and baking....
And you can make baking powder from ingredients that do store well.
