Hi guys, I noticed that most banks use Java at the server-side to run the web apps. Why is that? What makes Java better than PHP, ruby, python..etc for banks or enterprises?

Is it a possibilty that the problem is there are 4 or 5 Super Banks in the US holding a vast majority of our dollars and that makes them to big to fail. How about declaring a monopoly and break the the banks up. More competition would keep them in order...
