Which one has more leaves in the shade?
There's often a trade off .
Then go look at some un-mowed tall grass.
Look at your short grass.
Sugar concentration goes up when more sunshine hits the leaf .

Hello, I purchased my first home here in Centeral Texas in November. When I bought it, the lawn was in sorry shape. The area went through a very bad drought last summer and most of the grass (St. Augstine) was dead. When I first moved in, I airated the...

However, you should every day.
In the winter or another grass, Bermuda would have had small seed heads at that height.

Is there a formula for mixing dirt/sand for bermuda? Seem like if I only use sand, once the grass grows, that spot would be much softer - cause it's sand - not dirt.
I have some dips and bumps and uneven places in my backyard. Perhaps a depression 4 inches...

You should of where you are.
And a shallow rooted turfgrass like Bermuda? You cannot put 4" of dirt or sand on top of it.

Hey all,
My previous owner was a "lawn hobbiest" so took great care of it. I'm doing the same. He said the front lawn was never as nice as the back. Out back, they had it completely re-sodded in 2008 when they did septic work out there. The front is original...

Playing in St. Louis, zoysia is king. It's at almost every decent course in the area... to me, it's far and away the best turf to hit from.
I've found that it plays MUCH differently than bermuda, and especially bent.
Just...

No one can tell smaller feedings as I believe that Bermuda responds favorably to having the food source available.

If you need a preemergent, Gallery and simazine are not harmful to bermuda growing in.
Bermuda, seashore paspalum, st augustine and zoysia are installed this way.
The ground is covered.

Don't spray it mid day, do it when the sun is low .
It will injure the zoysia, but injure the bermuda even more.
Ortho grass B gone' will offer control, but probably not total elimination.

My front yard is bermuda. Upon closer inspection, it's like every 30th blade is thick and tan...even dead. So it's a little bit like grey hair coming in. Also, the grass looks sparse out front vs. the bermuda I have out back (installed a a later date)...

You should take a garden the additives in and water .
Because it grows so shallow, it is easy to fertilizer burn Bermuda.
If you over water, you, of course.
Bermuda grows fairly shallow and is a nitrogen hog.
Might want to aerate.
