I have this video that's WMP v9 encoded. I would like to convert it to divx/avi so that it is able to play on a DVD player. I have tried numerous conversion programs, but the end result is the converted video will NOT play normally.

Been using win avi to convert avi/divx files to dvd but sometimes the
sound is out of sync.Is there a better converter out there?

To summarize the answers so far:
Perian is a codec pack (Flip4Mac) enables you to play Windows... .
In addition to Perian I install flip4mac to provide support for Window media files.
Perian is the best codec pack for Mac OS, in my opinion.

These are files played by DivX Web Player and consists of a DDP (movie data) file, a DDR which is 3 or 4Kb and there is a single 0.ddi file which may be just a pointer to the frame or location in the currently playing video...

If that is correct, Zoom supports .divx files already - so....
Certainly supports normal DivX encoded files, but we would need a test file to see if it actually saves the .divx file as a .ddp file.

It depends also called best video....
AVI files can be similar size than a same bitrate DIVX or XVID file in an AVI container.
Will it be a bigger file or smaller when converted to WMV?
