Why are there more alum as opposed to carbon cx bikes?? anyone know why companies (such as specialized) make their cx bikes, even higher end ones in aluminum as opposed to carbon fiber? is aluminum better for winter/weather?

It's unlikely they'll buy a $3000+ carbon cross bike as their first cross bike that it lends itself to having a pit bike maybe, led to less of an ability to sell a carbon bike to joe, where....

1300 seems like a steal for a full carbon bike and 105's, IMO.
Or so, and I found it difficult to find a decent carbon frame road bike for sale under 2k, even with 105 parts.

What do you mean by long term ? Usually a bike nut change bike every season,a medium bike nut every bike to last up to 4/5 years or even more depending on it's use and/or abuse.
