Then you can just take the mouse and just bring it away I guess a rat trap should be more harsh than ....
I think it should just be enough to trap it, not KILL it or harm it .
It's a good way to catch a mouse but it's too rough and does kill.

If the mouse found a way into your house, it will simply re-enter after you put it outside.
I have some of it with you.
Live trapping a mouse, and releasing it back outside is a naive approach to your problem.

If this is a pellet you show(not a great photo), it doesn't look dense enough to be a raptor .
Gulls cormorant and even kingfishers do it.
Owls and hawks are not the only birds to make pellets.

I don't really think it was a mouse though.
Unfortunately I do have mice and DH seems to have given up so I am the cheif exterminator and mouse under the step and grabbed a long wrench and pushed it in.
