If I have an immutable Map which I might expect (over a very short period of time - like a few seconds) to be adding/removing hundreds of thousands of items from, is the standard HashMap a bad idea? Let's say I want to pass 1Gb of data through the Map...

Why do you have to use an immutable map? Poor garbage collector! Immutable maps generally hash maps and layer changesets on top (which slows things down and can increase the number writes).

Is there anybody using MMI maps for android. I had a chat with one of there representative and he confirmed they use Sygic interface for Android.
Maps cost 2K, till street level updates.
I went to android market and installed Sygic Trial version and also...

The best I have found is the map at the visitor center.

I'm guessing using text-to-speech programs, but I don't see how they'd help in navigating some of the more trickier elements that are pretty common, like non-descriptive links, filling out web forms, or sites that use Flash heavily. How do they cope?

Right. So recently, a bunch of new maps were put up for testing, and then there's a map-testing day coming in a few days' time. Many people are excited, hoping that some of said maps are going to establish themselves and revitalize the map pool a bit....

For every map test, maybe 1 map will go onto rotation and I'm sure it vanishes list maps you think most people like or do not like, every time a map is chosen for nextmap, people an awful lot....
