So I decided to do some fiddling with the options, and I get all sorts of blinking preventing me from viewing the cockpit. Is that HDR or MSAA or which option? Its cool, but a frame killer..

I would also add that my bright spot is significantly worse after working at the computer (which I do several hours a day).
I can not see my bright spot in dim/dark conditions. It is aggravated by bright light and light-colored backgrounds.

Been to eye hospital the conditions you mention.
They appear when I blink fast, or look at computer screen then look away.

Basically if you look at something too bright your eye will adjust and it wont be so bright, same goes for but there is something called retinal adaptation.

I have trouble shooting with both eyes open. Focusing on the front sight, I just clearly see two targets and two rear sights. I'm sure my right eye is dominant but perhaps not dominant enough to overcome double-vision? I can shoot with...

I shoot right handed, but use my left eye for pistols....
I personally am right handed but left eye dominant.
To find your dominant eye, you can perform this simple test .
You should get checked by a doc.
Double vision is not normal.
