Can you recommend a Java API to use with a desktop application (i.e. J2SE not J2ME) that will, perhaps, work with the underlying operating system's Bluetooth stack to give access to Bluetooth functionality and devices?

I want to make my laptop announce itself as a bluetooth keyboard or/and a bluetooth mouse. It would be nice to be able to connect the computer to my phone or my media computer using bluetooth.

As far as i remember bluetooth devices as implementing the HID profile.....

If you know the MAC address of a bluetooth device and it is connectable you can talk to it directly.

If you do your own Wifi networking, you can even make the iPod/ iPhone search for the printer using either bluetooth....
Apple for bluetooth devices.
I just used it to connect two iPod's via bluetooth.
You might want to check into the GameKit.
