In World War 1 my great uncle living in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, enlisted.
I had a quick look regiment.
There are a lot more army record on Findmypast including those for the Boer War.

After more like a 98 to me, and therefore wouldn't be a Boer War rifle.
