When trying to diagnose some poor carb performance we noticed the fuel appears to be boiling in the bowl. The diverter in the exhaust manifold is not stuck, but not sure if it's moving based on the temperature. It was definitely closed when it was hot...

The fuel return line is attached correctly and the code on the carb is 5H24 with the boil but could....
I had one appeared to be boiling again.
Mine doesn't.
Bubbling instead of boiling? I believe the california models had a carb fan.

I believe I am boiling my Clutch Hydraulics after each pull now. After the pull it won't engage the pressure plate, have to shut it off to get it in gear and shut it off to stop it when I press the clutch in.
I can let it sit for 10 min and it shifts ...

I was given this tip by a mate (who'd heard it but never tried it).
Fill plastic bottle with water and throw onto fire and it will boil; handy if you have no container and you're stuck, especially as there are so many littered about.
Does it work? yes...

Provided you don't over do the heat it works fine if you use a really hot of boiling water in a box made of paper, the trick is only to heat the bottom of the container where all would want to be fairly desperate....

I had my '09 450 boil the gas on the trail after some moderate bush wacking fix if I do boil the gas again.

I was surprised/disappointed. Placed a carafe of e10 in a pan of water, turned on the heat, thermometer read 115F (46C) when e10 bubbles began to rise. Good boil by 130F (54C).
Surprise was that a repeat using non-ethanol regular gasoline yielded same...

Who knows what the boiling point might be.
Refiners put in additives (anti-knock, smog) that well might have a lower boiling point...this will vary by region and season.
